This is ordinary smooth resampling plus an optional sharpen step, not AI. It makes a picture larger and keeps edges tidy, but it cannot recover detail that was never captured: a blurry or tiny photo will still look soft, only bigger. The result is capped at about 16 million pixels so phones do not run out of memory. If you only need to meet a pixel size or KB limit for a form, use Resize photo to exact size or Compress image to KB.

Is this AI upscaling? No. AI upscalers guess new detail with a trained model; this tool uses standard resampling and a simple sharpen filter, which is fast and private but less dramatic.
Why is the result not sharper? Enlarging cannot add real detail. Try a lighter sharpen on photos with noise, or a stronger one on soft logos and text.
